USN Pre-War Dauntless Summary
The SBD-1 is the initial version of the venerable dive bomber, first seeing service in 1940 with the Marines. The paint scheme matches that of the Marine squadron from the USS Enterprise (CV-6). This version had a distintive pre-war color scheme used from 1925 to 1940, which is faithfully recreated here. With an aluminum base color (Humbrol Polished Aluminum Metal Cote), bright yellow wing tops, and colorful insignia, this is one aircraft you won't forget and will be proud to add to your collection.
