Taiho Carrier Summary

3D Print - IJN Taiho Carrier

An alternative to out of the box Axis and Allies pieces, 3D print opens a new world of customized pieces, where basically any historical ship can be obtained. We at A&A Boardgaming endorse these new pieces and will be offering a host of new ships over time, all custom painted and magnetized.

These 3D designs by EBard offer exceptional detail and combined with our custom painting and decal graphics, make these ships simply the finest 3D printed game pieces available. These are guaranteed to become the most prized pieces in your collection.

The Taihō was a fleet aircraft carrier of the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. Possessing heavy belt armor and featuring an armored flight deck (a first for any Japanese aircraft carrier), she represented a major departure from prior Japanese aircraft carrier design and was expected to not only survive multiple bomb, torpedo, or shell hits, but also continue fighting effectively afterwards.

Built by Kawasaki at Kobe, she was laid down on 10 July 1941, launched almost two years later on 7 April 1943 and finally commissioned on 7 March 1944. She sank on 19 June 1944 during the Battle of the Philippine Sea due to explosions resulting from design flaws and poor damage control after suffering a single torpedo hit from an American submarine.

The Taiho comes with a unique, historically accurate flight deck decal and two strong neodymium rare earth magnets to hold two aircraft. Optionally load your carrier with matching magnetized aircraft. Never have your airwing fall off a carrier again!

Default magnetic polarity is as shown.

Approximate dimensions (LWD): 63mm x11 mm x 6mm

Note: These are created by a third-party 3D print company and require extra lead time to produce. The plastic used in the manufacturing process is not as robust as A&A game pieces. The plastic is more brittle and delicate protrusions like masts and scout plane catapults can be broken off. Please use care when handling.
