An alternative to out of the box Axis and Allies pieces, 3D print opens a new world of customized pieces, where basically any historical ship can be obtained. We at A&A Boardgaming endorse these new pieces and will be offering a host of new ships over time, all custom painted and magnetized.
The Sōryū was designed from the keel up as an aircraft carrier and incorporated lessons learned from the light carrier Ryūjō. Earlier Japanese carriers, Akagi and Kaga, were conversions of battlecruiser and battleship hulls respectively. So the Sōryū represented a clean design. However the design was not ideal, and her sister ship, the Hiryu, was so heavily modified it is not considered part of the Sōryū class.
Sōryū participated in many early war operations, including the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Indian ocean raids and attacks on the Dutch East Indies and Australia. She then participated in the Battle of Midway where she was sunk.
This is the finest finished 3D printed Sōryū game piece on the market today. And it is the best value - It includes magnetization, a custom flight deck and fully painted for about the same price as others sell unfinished.
Each carrier comes with a unique, historically accurate flight deck decal and two strong neodymium rare earth magnets to hold two aircraft.
Purchase a loaded carrier and get a discount on matching magnetized aircraft.
Never have your airwing fall off a carrier again!
Default magnetic polarity is as shown.
