IJA Ki-61 Tony
Product Details
IJA Ki-61 Tony Summary
The Kawasaki Ki-61 Tony was a Japanese fighter aircraft used by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Service.
The Ki-61 looked so different than the usual radial-engined Japanese fighters that the Allies at first believed it was a Messerschmitt Bf 109s and later Italian Macchi C.202s, which led to the Allied reporting name of "Tony". It was the only mass-produced Japanese fighter of the war to use a liquid-cooled inline V engine. Over 3,000 Ki-61s were produced.
Add the Tony to your game for increased realism, or use it as an equipment upgrade path for Japanese land-based fighters over the older Ki-43 Oscar.
The Tony comes in two colors - light grey underside/dark green top surfaces (authentic Tamiya IJA Dark Green paint is used) - and is given home defense insignia. The piece is magnetized for use on metal flight stands or with magnetized carriers. This is an HBG sourced game piece and is dependent upon availability.
