Béarn Aircraft Carrier Summary
This is an injection molded sculpt of the French Bearn aircrafter carrier game piece from HBG.The Bearn was a converted Normandie class battleship completed in 1927. She was intended to be an experimental ship and was to be replaced in the 1930's by two newer generation carriers of the Joffre class. These carriers were never produced and the Bearn was France's sole aircraft available during WW2. She participated in the hunt for the Graf Spee and the transferred gold bullion to the United States. With the fall of France, she ended up in Martinique. In 1944 she was sent to the US for refitting to become an aircraft transport. The modernization was completed just prior to the end of the war in Europe.
The Bearn comes with a unique, historically accurate flight deck decal and one strong neodymium rare earth magnets to a single aircraft.
We like this game piece because it is a French-specific carrier sculpt that is not a repurposed British sculpt. Add this to your game to enhance the historical accuracy of your French fleet.
The optional magnetized damage marker makes a great game addition.
