This is a 3D printed sculpt of the F4U Corsair from GamingStar.
The Vought F4U Corsair saw in both World War II and the Korean War. The Corsair was designed for carrier-based operations and the first prototype was created in 1940. Due to initial problems with carrier landings, which required several modifications, it wasn't until late 1944 that the Corsair first saw service. During the long modification period, the Corsair's early deployment was to US Marine and USN land-based fighter squadrons, and the Grumman F6F Hellcat became the primary carrier-based fighter. The Corsair achieved an remarkable combat kill ration of 11 to 1. The Japanese regarded it as the most formidable American fighter of World War II.
During the Korean War and subsequent French colonial wars, the Corsair served almost exclusively as a fighter-bomber. Production ceased in 1953, with 12,571 F4U Corsairs built. Its 1942–53 production run was the longest of any U.S. piston-engined fighter. Remaining serviceable aircraft were then by other airforces until the 1960s.
