CV-9 Essex Class Carrier Summary

This the finest finished 3D printed sculpt of the Essex class aircraft carrier by EBard Models on the market today.

The Essex class represented the best fleet carrier design or the war. Of the 32 ships ordered, 24 were launched before the end of WW2. It carried a large air wing and was armed with wide array of anti-aircraft guns. Though it did not have an armored deck like the British carriers, the design could sustain substantial damage and survive. No Essex class carriers were lost in the war, and some remained in service after modifications until the 1970's.

We make no distinction between the Essex class (short hull) and the Ticonderoga (long hull) subclass.

Members of the Essex class:

Choose your specific ship from the class. USS Essex images shown with 1945 camouflage. If chosen, camouflage will randomly be one of  patterns used in 1944 (Measure 32 Design 3a or Measure 33 Design 17a), or one used in 1945 (Measure 33, Design 10a).

Purchase a loaded carrier and get a discount on magnetized aircraft.

Each carrier comes with a unique, historically accurate flight deck decal and two strong neodymium rare earth magnets to hold two aircraft. Optionally load your carrier with matching magnetized aircraft. Never have your airwing fall off a carrier again!

Default magnetic polarity is as shown.

The optional assembled damage marker by Combat Miniatures makes a great game addition.
