This the finest finished 3D printed sculpt of the Essex class aircraft carrier by EBard Models on the market today.
The Essex class represented the best fleet carrier design or the war. Of the 32 ships ordered, 24 were launched before the end of WW2. It carried a large air wing and was armed with wide array of anti-aircraft guns. Though it did not have an armored deck like the British carriers, the design could sustain substantial damage and survive. No Essex class carriers were lost in the war, and some remained in service after modifications until the 1970's.
We make no distinction between the Essex class (short hull) and the Ticonderoga (long hull) subclass.
